The DL 930 employs either two or three 36-watt compact flourescent tubes, depending on whether it is being used on its 7,000 or 10,000 lux setting. The brightness of these tubes decreases with regular use. Because the therapeutic effectiveness of tubes depends on their brightness, it is recommended that all three be replaced, as a set, long before they burn out, about every two years. Fortunately the diffusing lens detaches easily by undoing the four screws from its front surface, allowing ready access to the tubes. An added bonus is the low price of these tubes, encouraging Day-Light users to replace them regularly and get the very best results from their SAD lamp!
